Just look at this video of a fox and her cubs. How can people persecute such beautiful creatures?
I particularly abhor hunting. Pompous fools in their red jackets, blowing their bugles, and chasing an innocent creature to their grisly death. Who are they trying to fool when they say they are providing a service to farmers? Do they not realise there are more humane methods when an animal needs to be controlled? Even shooting is preferable to being chased and ripped to shreds.
Best of all is when the animal is left to roam free in their natural habitat.
One afternoon my youngest daughter, Katie, and I were walking down a steep hill in Big Wood. Katie was ahead of me when I noticed a large red fox walking by the riverbank, totally oblivious to us. In trying to attract Katie’s attention, I also caught the attention of the fox. For a few seconds the three of us stood there, frozen in time, watching each other, until eventually the fox ran off.
